Dr Apisalome Talemaitoga (Api)

Dr Api Talemaitoga is a practicing General Practitioner in Christchurch (25 years) and in South Auckland since 2015. He trained at Otago University and has worked in New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and as a Medical Registrar at the CWM Hospital in Suva in the early 1990s. In NZ, Api has been a member of the National Health Committee and led the work on the management of Long Term Conditions, worked in the Pacific both as personal physician to Fijian leaders and, more recently across the Melanesian and Polynesian region facilitating access to specialist services in New Zealand. Api also served on the Board of the Canterbury District Health Board in 2000-1. He was Chief Advisor, Pacific Health at the Ministry of Health from 2008 – 2013.

Apart from clinical practice, Api was also on the Board of the Royal New Zealand College of GPs (RNZCGP) from 2014 to 2017, Chairs the Pasifika GP Network and is on the Executive of the Pacific Chapter of the RNZCGP. He is a member of the Pasifika Medical Association and is on the board of Etu Pasifika (the Christchurch GP and social provider clinic).

Api works part-time in providing strategic and community engagement advice on Pacific Health to the Ministry of Health, works part time at Mt Eden Corrections Facility Health centre and also practises appearance medicine on limited days at Cavendish Doctors.

Dr Nigel Tay joins the Cavendish team after gaining experience as a GP in his home country, Singapore. Niel gained his medical degree at the National University of Singapore before moving to Aotearoa in 2017. He has since completed his Fellowship in Urgent Care and also holds a Diploma in Sports Medicine from the International Olympic Council. Nigel also has a special interest in skin lesions , minor surgery and is credentialed to insert long-acting contraceptives like Jadelles.

An ex-national waterpolo player for Singapore, Nigel competes in the NZ national league and spends most of his free time at the pool and gym. He hopes to continue his medical education in interventional procedures in musculoskeletal and sports medicine while still finding time to explore Aotearoa’s great walks and beaches.

Dr Kohlhagen is passionate about General Practice as it gives an opportunity for continuity of care, a broad range of expertise and in particular health promotion in the public sphere. Her special interests are Women’s health, Diabetes, Asthma and Chronic care management.

Dr Mishriki joined Cavendish doctors in Oct, 2020. He is originally from Egypt / Cairo, and migrated to New Zealand in 1999 after working in Kingdom of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia for 20 years. He has been working in NZ for the last 16 years as a General Practitioner. Working abroad has exposed him to a wide range of cultures within very diverse expatriate communities with many races, dealing with people from different backgrounds and all walks of life. He speaks fluent English and Arabic languages and enjoys reading, swimming and fishing. He has special interests in children's health, accident and medical urgent care.
